How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1M and D1W, paying attention to the following criteria:

  • Efficiency
  • Stats
  • Team and opposition strength
  • Periods of influence in the game
  • Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

Both weekly winners came through in big games with plenty on the line, bringing their best when it mattered most.

In an important clash to chase down Pool B leaders Barking, Barnet Bulldogs went on the road against London Stars and came home with an 83-71 victory.

Chuck Duru was a big reason why, dropping a game-high 23 points that involved going 3/5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line. Four assists and a pair of rebounds and steals sweetened the pot, but playing 32:23, more than any other Bulldogs, with zero turnovers was the icing on the cake.

Janice Monakana was another putting in the work when it mattered most, pushing London Cavaliers to a statement 93-88 win over perennial D1W contenders Ipswich.

The former GB star led all scorers with 29 points that included a reliable 7/7 from the charity stripe to punish a team-high five fouls against.

Monakana also provided five points, three rebounds and an assist in the Cavs' 24-16 final frame, with the dime coming on Tilly Goddard's go-ahead three with just 12 ticks to go.

D1M Team of the Week

Chuck Duru - Barnet Bulldogs (23pts, 2reb, 4ast, 2stl, 26eff)

Adelaja Ogidan - London Lions II (11pts, 9reb,4ast, 20eff)

Disraeli Lufadeju - St Helens Saints (24pts, 10reb,  6ast, 5stl, 27eff)

Charlie Ollis - Cobham Cobras (16pts, 9reb, 19eff)

Connor Murtagh - St Helens Saints (19pts, 3reb, 23eff)

POTW Duru goes straight into the five, and is followed by four others that shared his high-efficiency shooting and care when looking after the ball.

Adelaja Ogidan was the standout as London Lions II edged a three-point win over CoLA, and Ogidan's 71% shooting and turnover free outing were both important, as was his +/- of +10 in such a narrow victory.

St Helens' Disraeli Lufadeju goes back-to-back in the Team of the Week after his exploits in the win against Leicester, whilst team mate Connor Murtagh couldn't be ignored after his perfect 6/6 FG, 3/3 FT performance also helped down the Warriors.

Cobham's Charlie Ollis rounds out the five, notching up a team-high +/- of +8 in the slender 60-58 victory. A game-high 16 points came on 53% shooting, and he was another that was impressively turnover free despite 26:02 of action.

Honourable mentions

Harry Sheehan - Myerscough Basketball Academy (27pts, 2ast, 21eff)
Oscar Baldwin - Sheffield Sharks II (12pts, 15reb, 2ast, 3blk, 20eff)

James Dawe - Cardiff Met Archers (18pts, 2reb, 2ast, 16eff)
Diego Perez Tosca - Leicester Warriors (19pts, 5reb, 3ast, 19eff)

D1W Team of the Week

Janice Monakana - London Cavaliers (29pts, 6reb, 3ast, 4stl, 27eff)

Jahveina Whyte - Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (24pts, 10reb, 5ast, 3stl, 32eff)

Ciani Montgomery - Worcester Wolves (33pts, 6reb, 3ast, 4stl, 28eff)

Sophie Khalaf - Brent Bulls (22pts, 10reb, 2ast, 3stl, 24eff)

Faye Parker - Anglia Ruskin University (7pts, 12reb, 2stl, 7blk, 23eff)

Weekly standout Monakana is joined in the five by one of her opponents, Ipswich's Jahveina Whyte, after the guard's output pushed Monakana and Co right to the brink in the 93-88 home win.

Worcester's 83-75 road victory against Loughborough was powered by former Player of the Week Ciana Montgomery as her 33 points led all D1W scorers this weekend.

Sophie Khalaf's double-double allowed Brent to see off Bristol Flyers, picking up their first win of the season in the process, and ARU's Faye Parker had a debut to remember as she shone at both ends of the court in Ruskin's win over Bromsgrove.

Honourable mentions

Harriet Welham - Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (21pts, 10reb, 7ast, 3stl, 26eff)
Louisa Gibbons - Loughborough Riders (11pts, 7reb, 5ast, 4stl, 4blk, 23eff)
