Old rivals renew hostilities

Last season's top four all face off this weekend, providing what is sure to be plenty of quality basketball for D1W fans.

Current leaders and last season's top dogs CoLA host their nearest rivals in second place Anglia Ruskin University, with Pride looking to extend their advantage at the top if they can push their winning run to five in a row. ARU will be hoping to best last year's fourth place finish, and winning against the likes of CoLA is sure to be key to that push.

Ipswich sit narrowly behind and have a home date with slow-starting Brent, who have only played two games in the early going and sit at 1-1. Both teams had a chance to claim the regular season title in 2024/25, with the duo eventually slipping behind CoLA in the final standings.

Both games will continue to shape the early season standings as the competition races towards December's mid-season break, with none of the quartet wanting to lose ground if they're to replicate last season's lofty finishing spots.

Loughborough, Worcester provide excitement elsewhere

The Riders won't have envisaged an 0-3 start to the season after retooling their roster this summer and adding in a host of new talent.

The likes of Hannah Gray and Louisa Gibbins both stood out last week, but their production wasn't enough to stop the Midlanders from slipping to an 83-75 loss against Worcester.

Life doesn't get any easier for the Riders this weekend as they play host to reigning Player of the Week Janice Monakana and the London Cavaliers, with the visitors hoping to pick up a win safe in the knowledge that either ARU or CoLA above them will be dropping points on Saturday.

Worcester remain as D1W's only unbeaten side and their 2-0 record will get another test this weekend as they entertain Manchester Mystics, who at 2-1 have had a reasonable start to the new campaign themselves.

Ciani Montgomery has enjoyed a breakout debut campaign so far for the Wolves, and her 33-point outing last weekend was more than enough to help down the Riders.

That game is available to watch live from the embed above, with a 5pm tip.
