A key commitment of the Basketball England Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is to publicly publish progress on a quarterly basis. 

Here is the first report of the progress made so far from July to September.

Delivery of the DIAP

There are 100 tasks to be delivered as part of the DIAP over the next four years.

25 tasks will be completed each year across all five core ambitions.

A snapshot of progress in this quarter

  1. Launch of the DIAP on the 30 September 2025
  2. Implementation of the Gender Participation and Eligibility Policy
  3. Internal operations: 
    1. EDI is now a permanent agenda item at executive management meetings
    2. Monthly meetings have been established with every department at BE
    3. A member of the senior leadership team attends all EDI Committee meetings
  4. Accessibility tools are now available on the Be website and PlayHQ
  5. With the launch of PlayHQ, BE is now able to collate reliable and consistent data, informing focus and evidencing progress - see example below

Focus for the next quarter

  1. Establish a working group focused on women and girls basketball
  2. Re-launch of the Future Youth Committee
  3. Development of new EDI partnerships
