'Energy and engagement' - England U14 Girls Transition Camp a success - gallery

A group of talented U14 girls attended a Transition Camp in Nottingham as part an exciting new step on the Basketball England Talent Pathway.

The camp, which took place at Nottingham Wildcats Arena, provided valuable contact time, skill refinement and holistic development opportunities for players identified as having the potential to transition to the next stage of the England Talent Pathway (ETP).

The girls-only initiative was designed to support player development and progression and proudly aligns with FIBA’s Her World, Her Rules campaign, which aims to empower and inspire more young girls to play basketball, build confidence, and pursue excellence both on and off the court.

Steve Bucknall, Basketball England’s Head of Talent and Performance, said:

"The camp was a real success. Both players and parents spoke highly of the experience. There was lots of energy, engagement and quality coaching and it set a great benchmark for future development of this young cohort of girls.

“It is an important step in helping our young female players to prepare for the next phase of their basketball journey. It’s not just about improving their technical and tactical understanding, but also about building confidence and leadership in a supportive, high-performance environment.

"The Her World, Her Rules initiative is a great way to celebrate and invest in our young female athletes, ensuring they have the resources, visibility, and encouragement they deserve and we are committed to reflecting that within the England Talent Pathway too.”

The Transition Camp combined on-court sessions, including technical and tactical development, with off-court education, focusing on wellbeing, nutrition, and self-management essential skills for long-term athlete growth.
