How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1M and D1W, paying attention to the following criteria:

  • Efficiency
  • Stats
  • Team and opposition strength
  • Periods of influence in the game
  • Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

Sheffield Arrows' Hamza Ibrahim extended his advantage as D1M's top scorer with an impressive 39 points against Oxford Hoops.

Despite the visitors' slow start to the season, Ibrahim's numbers were simply too good to ignore, and adding in extra value from nine boards and six assists, it all added up to a rare 40+ efficiency outing for the Arrows' star.

Another player putting on a show this weekend was Brent's Kenisha Whyte.

The Bulls needed two periods of OT to see off Ipswich, winning 95-83, and Whyte was a big part of the final score.

Her game-high 34 points came on 54% shooting, and seven rebounds plus four dimes went with four steals at the other end for a great afternoon's work.

Whyte took over in OT to see her side home, contributing 10 of Brent's 16 points in OT2 plus an assist for good measure.

D1M Team of the Week

Hamza Ibrahim - Sheffield Arrows (39pts, 9reb, 6ast, 42eff)

Diogo Soares - Sheffield Arrows (24pts, 11reb, 5ast, 3stl, 2blk, 37eff)

Earl Burgess - Worcester Wolves (23pts, 14reb, 3stl, 30eff)

Sam Toluwase - Birmingham City University (29pts, 7reb, 2ast, 5stl, 30eff)

Joshua Mendes - Barking Abbey (27pts, 10reb, 31eff)

Ibrahim is an automatic pick as POTW and is joined by another Arrows' standout in the form of Diogo Soares, who also dropped some eye-catching numbers on the Hoops.

Earl Burgess' double-double helped the Wolves to an 88-67 win against Teesside, shooting 68% from the floor in the process. Sam Toluwase kept his recent hot form going to drop a solid stat line on Liverpool, keeping BCU unbeaten for another week as he filled the stat sheet.

Barking's Joshua Mendes makes the five despite his side's single basket loss to Barnet, with the young star doing more than enough to keep BA in the contest with a game-high score that was 11 points more than his closest team mate.

Honourable mentions

Dante Sofia - Liverpool (10pts, 13reb, 5ast, 19eff)
Sable Cooper - Barnet Bulldogs (25pts, 6reb, 2ast, 19eff)
Jay Jarrett - London Stars (17pts, 3reb, 2stl, 3blk, 21eff)
John Stewart - Cobham Cobras (16pts, 11reb, 3stl, 22eff)
Chuck Duru - Barnet Bulldogs (12pts, 5reb, 6ast, 3stl, 21eff)

D1W Team of the Week

Kenisha Whyte - Brent Bulls (34pts, 7reb, 4ast, 4stl, 34eff)

Sammy Roscoe - Bristol Flyers (20pts, 14reb, 6ast, 2stl, 2blk, 28eff)

Adaora Dioramma - CoLA Southwark Pride (12pts, 17reb, 2stl, 26eff)

Vanessa Akra - Brent Bulls (10pts, 17reb, 4ast, 2stl, 22eff)

Ayla Habbal - CoLA Southwark Pride (20pts, 6reb, 8ast, 25eff)

Brent are doubling up this week, with POTW Whyte being joined by Vanessa Akra, who recorded a double-double in the Bulls win along with a +/- of +17 despite some shooting woes.

CoLA are another team putting forward a pair of worthy selections, with forward Adaora Dioramma and guard Ayla Habbal both enjoying great outings to down ARU 81-61. Dioramma ensured Pride won the battle on the glass, collecting a game-high 17, whilst Habbal contributed half of her side's 16 assists.

That just leaves Bristol forward Sammy Roscoe to round out this week's side, with her 20-point, 14-rebound double proving too much for Bromsgrove to handle, whilst adding in a pair of blocks and steals for extra value on the defensive end.

Honourable mentions

Chinwe Iwunze - London Cavaliers (20pts, 4reb, 3ast, 20eff)
Dani Cazey - Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (12pts, 11reb, 3ast, 26eff)
Veronica Iweanya - Bristol Flyers (15pts, 11reb, 4ast, 2stl, 23eff)
