It was a high-octane week of action across D1M and D1W, making weekly awards tough to decide.

Chosen in conjunction with Darren Paul and the FocusHoops team, who assess the best and brightest in D1W, and the BE team, you can have your say on this week’s selections and give a shout-out to the players you think deserve one by using the hashtag #NBL2526. Don’t forget to tag us!

How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1M and D1W, paying attention to the following criteria:

  • Efficiency
  • Stats
  • Team and opposition strength
  • Periods of influence in the game
  • Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

After playing a supporting role behind team-mate Hamza Ibrahim in recent weeks, it's Diogo Soares' time to take the spotlight after a stunning showing for Sheffield Arrows this past weekend.

Winning a nail-biter in St Helens, 88-87, Soares did it all for the Arrows get his side over the line. His 30 points led all scorers, shooting a perfect 7/7 from two-point range and 12/14 overall, hitting five triples as part of his total.

Seven rebounds and five assists provided extra value, playing the full 40 for an impressive 37 efficiency outing.

Another player going off on the scoring charts is Worcester's debut sensation Ciani Montgomery.

Dropping 35 points in the Wolves' 68-67 W against London All Stars, the Lincoln University alum went 59% from the floor, adding nine rebounds, four assists and four steals to an excellent day at the office.

With no other Worcester player making it to double digits on the scoreboard, the American's production was huge, and her 36 efficiency was no shock.

D1M Team of the Week

Diogo Soares - Sheffield Arrows (30pts, 7reb, 5ast, 37eff)

Oscar Baldwin - Sheffield Sharks II (19pts, 20reb, 5ast, 2stl, 3blk, 34eff)

Toby Gass - CoLA Southwark Pride (16pts, 10reb, 2ast, 2blk, 27eff)

Earl Burgess - Worcester Wolves (24pts, 7reb, 27eff)

Sable Cooper - Barnet Bulldogs (30pts, 7reb, 2ast, 4stl, 27eff)

POTW Soares is joined by another South Yorkshire standout in the form of Sheffield Sharks' Oscar Baldwin, who enjoyed a sizable double-double against Leicester.

CoLA's Toby Gass also collected a double-double, shooting a highly efficient 6/9 for his 16 points. Another in the same efficient mould was Worcester's Earl Burgess, who went 11/13 from the floor for 24 points.

Sable Cooper's 30-point outing was enough to help him to a spot in the TOTW, with all five of this week's picks finishing with an efficiency of 27 or higher.

Honourable mentions

Ashley Ugo - Leicester Warriors (15pts, 14reb, 4ast, 4stl, 24eff)
Isaac Temilola - Greenwich Titans (21pts, 19reb, 2blk, 29eff)
Aaron Bile - Manchester Magic (20pts, 7reb, 21eff)
Charlie Ollis - Cobham Cobras (28pts, 5reb, 2ast, 29eff)
Disraeli Lufadeju - St Helens Saints (28pts, 2ast, 29eff)

D1W Team of the Week

Ciani Montgomery - Worcester Wolves (35pts, 9reb, 4ast, 4stl, 36eff)

Sammy Roscoe - Bristol Flyers (9pts, 9reb, 5ast, 3stl, 4blk, 21eff)

Harriet Welham - Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (31pts, 11reb, 6ast, 3stl, 33eff)

Success Odemwingie - Manchester Mystics (11pts, 6reb, 4ast, 6stl, 18eff)

Mrashi Karumba-Roberts - London Cavaliers (19pts, 15reb, 21eff)

Montgomery slots in as pick #1, and is joined by another familiar face in Bristol's Sammy Roscoe. The talented forward didn't light up the scoreboard, but she did pack the stat sheet, doing plenty of everything to get the Flyers a win over CoLA.

Harriet Welham was in typical form, dropping 33 points and nabbing a double-double against Loughborough, and Manchester's Success Odemwingie was a two-way threat with points, rebounds, assists and a game-high six steals against the Cavs.

Mrashi Karumba-Roberts can be disappointed she didn't manage to help the Cavs to a win against Odemwingie and co.

With a game-high 15 rebounds to go with a +/- of +10 (a team-high) in the six point loss, the Cavs' forward also scored 11 of her side's 20 points in the fourth and drew a bruising 10 fouls, going a very reliable 12/15 from the free throw line.

Honourable mentions

Jahveina Whyte - Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (19pts, 4reb, 2stl, 15eff)
Chinwe Iwunze - London Cavaliers (20pts, 13reb, 2ast, 5stl, 21eff)
Tejonah-Sharon McKay - Worcester Wolves (9pts, 9reb, 8ast, 14eff)
